Tuesday 9/12/23 Update:

The Mill Creek Fire was reported Monday, Sept. 11, on the Uncompahgre National Forest, approximately 2 miles North of the town of Telluride at about 12,000’ elevation.

Today, an engine crew hiked to the South aspect of the Pack Basin area of the Mill Creek Fire. They cut hazard trees and constructed line around the tree. The fire has low spread potential with no active fire behavior. The fire size has been updated to approximately 1/10 acre and is 100% contained.

Lighting and thunderstorms are predicted this afternoon. Smoke may be visible to the town of Telluride and the surrounding area. Firefighter and public safety are the priorities for this incident.

At approximately 9 a.m. Monday, Sept.11, the Mill Creek Fire was reported on the Uncompahgre National Forest, approximately 2 miles North of the town of Telluride at about 12,000’ elevation. The single tree fire has low spread potential with no active fire behavior. It is zero percent contained. One engine is monitoring the fire due to the rough steep terrain. Lighting and thunderstorms are predicted this afternoon. Smoke will be visible to the town of Telluride and the surrounding area. Firefighter and public safety are the priorities for this incident.
