At approximately 9:13 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19, the Difficulty Creek Fire was reported approximately 5 miles northeast of Ouray, Colorado and 7 miles south of Vista Point, in the Cow Creek drainage near Difficulty Creek.
The fire is approximately 1/10 of an acre in size and currently has low spread potential with fire behavior primarily creeping and smoldering. The fire is in remote and rugged terrain and is being monitored by aircraft.
Minimal smoke may be visible in the area for the next several days. There are no structures threatened and no area closures are in effect at this time. Firefighter and public safety are the priorities for this incident.
