South Rim Fire Update: July 11, 2025

The South Rim Fire in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is most recently mapped as 1,640 acres and 0% contained. Vegetation was cleared and fire retardant was applied to secure infrastructure yesterday. While the South Rim Visitor Center and other park buildings are intact, some park equipment and outbuildings are damaged.

Firefighters will continue to perform structure protection as needed, and aircraft will support the South Rim Fire with retardant, water buckets, mapping, and aerial supervision. Check InciWeb for incident updates: https://inciweb.wildfire.gov/incident…/cobcp-south-rim
