HINSDALE COUNTY RETURNS TO STAGE 1 FIRE RESTRICTIONS

As of noon today, September 3, the northern areas of Hinsdale County and the Town of Lake City will be rescinding Stage 2 Fire Restrictions and returning to Stage 1 restrictions. The Upper Piedra in the southern area of Hinsdale County will rescind all fire restrictions as of noon today.

Stage 1 fire restrictions prohibit open fires outside of established fire restrictions. Specifically, Stage 1 restrictions include:

– Permitted: Fires in permanent fire pits & grills on private property, developed recreation sites and campgrounds; camping stoves with liquid fuel.

– Prohibited: Outdoor fires – including grills and barbecues — on public lands; private fireworks; explosives; smoking outdoors unless in a three-foot area cleared of all flammable materials; welding unless in a ten-foot cleared area.

Northern Hinsdale County includes everything north of the Continental Divide/Spring Creek Pass. Hinsdale County will revisit the Stage 1 fire restrictions in the next week.
