With measurable increases in precipitation, the Stage 1 Fire Restriction Order posted on
September 5 is hereby lifted and as of Friday, September 12 at 12:01 AM; the Stage 1 Fire
Restriction Order is rescinded.
With no Fire Order, only the normal regulatory restrictions listed within 36 Code of Federal
Regulations, the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park Superintendent’s
Compendium, and the Curecanti National Recreation Area Superintendent’s Compendium
under §1.5 Closure and public use limits and listed under §2.13 Fires, §2.21 Smoking, and
§2.38 Explosives apply.
Area Description: All lands within the boundaries of Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and
Curecanti National Recreation Area.
Fire use by visitors in the parks is regulated to protect resources and visitors. The intent of
Stage 1 Fire Restrictions was to reduce the number of human-caused fires during periods
of very high fire danger by decreasing potential sources of ignition.
