Hinsdale County entered Stage 2 Fire Restrictions at 12:00 p.m. today, and Gunnison County’s Stage 2 Fire Restrictions will take effect at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday.
These restrictions are necessary due to extremely dry conditions and elevated wildfire danger across our region.
Under Stage 2 Fire Restrictions:
No campfires or outdoor fires of any kind, including in developed recreation areas or established fire rings. No charcoal grills, wood-burning stoves, portable fire pits, tiki torches, or other portable fire devices. No personal fireworks or explosive targets. No outdoor smoking except inside an enclosed vehicle, building, or trailer. No welding or operating acetylene torches with an open flame. No debris or agricultural burning. No off-road vehicle use outside established roads, trails, or designated parking areas unless parked in an area free of vegetation within 10 feet of the vehicle.
Chainsaws, generators, ATVs, and other small engine equipment must have properly maintained spark arresters.
Propane and other liquid or gas-fueled stoves, grills, and lanterns equipped with shut-off valves remain permitted when used at least three feet away from flammable materials.
