GMUG reduces Turner Gulch Fire closure area
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (September 11, 2025) — The Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison (GMUG) National Forests’ Grand Valley Ranger District is reducing the Turner Gulch Wildfire public closure area starting September 12 at 12:01 a.m. through December 1 at noon, unless rescinded.
The updated closure area is located south and east of Highway 141 in Mesa County. The eastern boundary of the closure is NFSR 416 (Rim Road), beginning at the intersection with NFSR 404 (Uranium Road); continuing as the area northwest of, and including, NFSR 404 (Uranium Road) until the intersection with, and including, NFSR 405 (Pine Mountain Road). The western forest boundary forms the westernmost boundary of the closure area. NFSR 416 will remain open.
See map and closure order for more details here.
While the Turner Gulch Fire is 100% contained, Forest Service and other interagency personnel continue to repair primary firelines and reconstruct roads damaged in the fire suppression effort. Details and updates on this fire are being shared on InciWeb and the incident’s official Facebook page.
The GMUG reminds the public to stay informed, follow local guidance, pay close attention to all road signs and support firefighting efforts by avoiding affected areas. Please check the GMUG’s alert page for closure updates and fire restrictions prior to visiting.
